LifeScan has appointed Jonathan Salkin as chief executive officer (CEO), effective immediately. Salkin succeeds Michael Hooks and James Rushing, who have been co-interim CEOs since January.

Hooke will continue in his role as board chairman and Rushing will remain in his roles as executive VP and chief financial officer (CFO).

Salkin brings to LifeScan over twenty years of experience leading global healthcare, life sciences, and medical technologies. He was most recently CEO of Antylia Scientific, where he spearheaded its successful transformation from a legacy catalog-based laboratory distribution business into a global life sciences and bioprocessing platform.

Earlier in his career, Salkin worked in senior leadership positions at Devicor Medical Products and Cardinal Health. Board chairman Hooks said that after LifeScan’s extensive and thorough search for a chief executive, Salkin emerged as the clear choice.

“His combination of strategic acumen, leadership skills, and a proven track record clearly establishes him as the ideal person to lead LifeScan into a new era of providing diabetes monitoring & management solutions,” Hooks told the press. “I look forward to partnering closely with him and the leadership team to collaborate on the opportunities ahead.”

Salkin shared his enthusiasm for joining the company that has earned the diabetes community’s confidence community for over 40 years. LifeScan is a leader in blood glucose monitoring and digital health technology, known for its OneTouch products to manage diabetes.

“LifeScan’s OneTouch brand is one of the most recognized in glucose monitoring, and more than 20 million people around the world rely on it every day to manage their diabetes,” said the incoming CEO. “That level of trust carries a meaningful responsibility to continue delivering reliable, innovative solutions that improve outcomes for patients and caregivers. I’m here to build, and I’m glad to be doing it with this team.”

Last month, the company formed a partnership with i-SENS to launch a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system under the OneTouch Vita brand. The CGM products will be sold in Germany, Ireland, Portugal, and Belgium by early 2027, with additional markets phased in over time.
